Euphoria Ridge Hikes - Saturday, May 5

Shorter Hike

Don Ivy, Tribal Chief of the Coquille Tribe will lead us on a hike through a beautiful rocky meadow.  Don will discuss the Coquille Tribe's natural resource and cultural resource management aims; the ecology of upland prairie/meadow habitats and the historic uses thereof; demonstration of industrial forestry practices; and etc.  This part of the hike will take about 2 hours.

The second part of Don's hike is essentially an extension of part one (another 90 minutes max) that exposes the hikers to some additional landscape/ecologies and discussions not of part one.

Hike is a moderate 4 miles but there are some steep climbs.  Plan on 3 to 3.5 hours.

Well behaved dogs (on leashes) and school age children are welcome. It's a great educational event for children.

Longer Hike

If there is interest, Dave Gray will lead an 8 mile hike from Euphoria Ridge to Axe Creek.  The hike will go through four trail sections from meadow to mature alder forest to old growth, with old roads connecting them.  This hike is rated difficult, and a shuttle is required to make it one way.
